CHEM designs and manufactures Draft Tube Baffle Crystallizers, DTB, which offer a high level of control over particle size where extreme fine crystals are present. They are normally used for producing large size crystals of ammonium sulphate, potassium cloride, diammonium chloride, etc., in the fertilizer industry.

The draft tube baffle crystallizers can be built as both - adiabetic cooling type draft tube baffle crystallizers or evaporative type draft tube baffle crystallizers. The body has a large, slow-moving propeller circulator inside, which circulates the growing crystals from the bottom to the boiling surface. Mother liquor containing fine crystals can be removed from the annular settling zone, surrounding the suspended magma. The gravitational settling in the annular baffle zone separates the fine crystals from the growing suspension of crystals.
