Steam Jet Refrigeration Systems

Chem Process Steam jet refrigeration systems are used to produce chilled water for cooling and other chilling/refrigeration applications by using the vapour flashing process. Chem has also applied the steam jet refrigeration systems for varied crystallization processes.

Also known as vacuum chillers, they are non-polluting, reliable and hence are very popular for application requiring temperatures in the range of 0 deg. cent. to 20 deg. cent. Water is used as a refrigerant and there is also a possibility of using waste heat as motive energy. This method of chilled water generated is the total environment friendly alternative to the commonly used CFC based refrigerant systems.

Steam jet refrigeration systems can be designed as per the availability of steam pressure. Low pressure steam can also be used, which proves to be very economical.

  Liquid Jet Ejectors

Advantages

  • Since water is the cooling agent there is no pollution of the environment

  • Elimination of ozone pollution

  • Non-toxic

  • Simple components - flash evaporator, condensers and ejectors guarantee uncomplicated and reliable operation

  • Low maintenance costs as no moving parts

  • Waste heat with a temperature down to 80°C can be used as motive energy

  • Cooling capacity ranging from a few kW upto 27 MW

Chem Process has designed systems using barometric condensers or surface condensers as per installation requirements.

Steam jet refrigeration systems are used in chemical, petrochemical, food, edible oil, refining, fertilizers, etc.
